Off topic - Geese, World of Warcraft, and other friends

Everyone needs a break form time to time, so this post is a break from the senior care issues to point out some interesting links relating to other stuff going on in my life - this includes a problem with geese in the yard, a teenager who plays World of Warcraft all day, and my random web travels.

First to the geese. The neighbor has a small pond in his yard which I think was left over from when this was all farm. Every spring the Canadian geese fly in and land in the pond and set up for the summer and make them selves a general nuisance in the whole neighborhood. Gees on the lawn, geese on the road, honking geese early in the morning, you get the picture. I have tried a lot of things to get rid of the geese and I found an interesting web site of ideas on how to get rid of geese. He has tried many of the same things as I have to get rid of the geese but he seems to have a more scientific approach.

The other problem I have is a teenager who want to play World of Warcraft online all the time. I found a site on World of Warcraft Addiction that makes me know I am not alone on this. He would rather get gold on line and use it to buy World of Warcraft gear than make real U.S. dollars for doing chores around the house to buy real things. It is a scary day when a teenager is more interested in virtual money than real money and virtual friends than real friends. I wish there was some way for him to get a virtual job.

I have also been poking around on line myself and have found some interesting reading at Pops Picks and at Where to Find Good Ideas, both of which have a good view of the world and I enjoy reading them when they post updates. I am finding myself spending less time online now that the weather is getting better. Though it has been cold the past week or so we are supposed to have a big warm up this weekend and I ma looking forward to it.

That's all for now. Hopefully back to senior issues soon.

J
